Library

Welcome to our library with Mrs Ellis!

At Lakelands Primary School, we want our library to be the centre of our school community.

Our library is a warm and inviting place for all staff, students, parents and the wider community. It’s a place that everybody can be proud of and feel a sense of belonging.  Where students are actively engaged and encouraged to become passionate about reading and the opportunities it can provide.

The library is open daily except for every second Monday (Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10), and students are encouraged to visit anytime between 8.30 – 3.30 to exchange their library books. They do not need to wait until their classroom borrowing day to swap their books.

Parents are encouraged to pop into the library any time before or after school to read a book with their children.

Students are welcome to visit the library during lunch time on the days Mrs Ellis is here. They can read a book, play board games or generally ‘hang out’. The library is a full house on most days!

Every Thursday morning at 8.40 parents and younger siblings not at school are invited to Toddler Time. These sessions are fun and interactive for the children and provide time for parents to build relationships between themselves. With the use of donated books, siblings are also encouraged to borrow books.

This year we have 8 Library Monitors who help me with the general running of our school library. When on duty the Library Monitors will be wearing their purple vests. They are here to help you with any queries you may have.

I would love to see you all soon. Feel free to pop in and say ‘Hi!”
